Star Wars Episode I – The Phantom Menace 3D
13 years on from the original release of the highest grossing film in the Star Wars saga, Star Wars Episode I returns to the big screen in 3D. But does it add anything to the original movie?
But firstly for those who have not seen the saga, or have been living in a box for the last 35 years a brief recap. While escorting Queen Amidala from the her home on Naboo to the Corusant to bring to an end a dispute, Jedi’s Qui-Gon Jinn Obi-Wan Kenobi’s discover on Tatooine a boy who could bring balance to the force. With stunning set pieces and a range of new and familiar characters, Episode 1 is a fun and exciting introduction to the Star Wars Saga.
But now there is a down side of the new release. The 3D… With many of the post edited 3D movies, it just hasn’t worked that well.
Expecting the pod race to be more visually stunning than the already amazing sequence we were disappointed with the lack of twisted metal coming towards the screen but the feeling of being there was not!!
Many of the other sequences just made the movie look like a large number of cardboard cut outs stuck infront of a blurred back ground, which unfortunately took a lot away from the original visuals.
For those who have not seen the movie, and the younger generation it is still an entertaining intro to the Saga and worth a look. But if you are expecting a stunning visual 3D thrill ride you will be greatly disappointed.
Star Wars Episode I – The Phantom Menace 3D is released nation wide on the 9 February 2012
